JAGs are responsible for offering legal support to military operations primarily focusing on the areas of criminal law, legal assistance, civil/administrative law, labor/employment law, international/operational law, intelligence law, and contract/fiscal law. All students are invited and encouraged to attend.

The U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development – Office of General Counsel is HIRING! The U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) – Office of General Counsel (OGC) will be visiting Southwestern Law to present a 60-minute presentation on HUD – OGC’s Legal Honors Program, the only hiring program for entry-level attorneys.   Application deadline for the Legal Honors Program is Friday, September 21, 2018 and please join us in welcoming the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development – Office of General Counsel to campus to learn more about application processes to the Legal Honors Program.

Consider a potential career in and/or jump-start your existing legal career with a job in compliance law. Compliance, in particular, compliance within financial institutions has been a steadily growing area for law school grads. Leora Weiner, a Senior Principal Consultant with ACA Compliance (former General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer), together with Gina Galang, Partner and Investment Adviser with ACA Compliance (former Staff Accountant with the Securities Exchange Commission), will be on campus to discuss careers in compliance, specifically within the financial industry and with ACA Compliance Group, a leading provider of risk management and technology solutions that focus on regulatory compliance, performance, financial crime, and cybersecurity.

Southwestern wants to help you understand what law school admissions committee members discuss when reviewing applications, and we want you to be on the committee! This interactive mock admissions committee meeting will demonstrate the intricacies of how law school applications are reviewed. 

Then, choose between a Blueprint LSAT Preparation workshop and a mock law class breakout session. The LSAT preparation workshop will cover what to expect on the exam and what type of scores law schools are looking for. The mock first-year law course simulates the classroom environment through the use of a sample judicial opinion, hypotheticals, and engaged discussion. Get ready for a glimpse into the law student experience!

Finally, join faculty, admissions staff, and current students for a reception in the historic Bullocks Wilshire Building.

* A book scholarship covers the full cost of books required during the first year of an admitted student’s program at Southwestern Law School (estimated value is $1,200 for Traditional Day program). To redeem the book scholarship prize, raffle winners must apply to Southwestern by December 1, 2018, and be admitted following the normal review process. If admitted to Southwestern, the winner will be given official confirmation of the book scholarship. Raffle participants must be present at the time of drawing in order to win.
