Orientation

The First-year Orientation Program for Full-Time Day, Part-Time Day, and PLEAS Students
As you commence on what will undoubtedly be one of the most exciting, challenging and rewarding educational experiences you will ever have—the beginning of your legal career—Southwestern has created a program to guide you through the beginning of that journey.
The First-year Orientation Program for Traditional J.D. Students is just one of numerous resources available to help you become acclimated and achieve success throughout your law school career.
SCALE® and J.D. Transfer Student Orientation
SCALE and J.D. Transfer students have a specific Orientation Program designed to fit their needs. These Orientation programs are not on the same day as the First-Year Orientation Program, but they are held prior to the start of school.

Online J.D. Student Orientation
The Online J.D. Orientation is the first step toward becoming a member of our online learning community. It has been designed to mirror the structure and experience of our online courses, giving you an opportunity to become familiar with the Canvas asynchronous learning environment and virtual synchronous sessions via Zoom before classes begin. Whether you are new to asynchronous learning or have previous experience taking online courses, this orientation helps you understand how to succeed in a flexible, self-paced learning environment while staying connected to your classmates, faculty, and the Southwestern community.
LL.M. Student Orientation
LL.M. students have a specific Orientation Program designed to fit their needs, and it is held prior to the start of school. In addition, all foreign educated LL.M. students are strongly encouraged to participate in the ALLIES program (see details below), which begins two weeks before regularly scheduled Fall Semester classes.
