Application Process and Requirements

To apply to Southwestern, all first-year applicants must:

  • Meet the requirements for undergraduate pre-legal education
  • Register with the Law School Admissions Council and subscribe to the Credential Assembly Service
  • Register for and take the Law School Admissions Test
    • NOTICE RE: LSAT ADMINISTRATIONS: In light of the March, April, and June in-person LSAT cancellations, we would like to provide an update on the exams we accept for Fall 2020 admission. The Law School Admission Council (LSAC) has decided to administer an online, remotely-proctored version of the LSAT - called the LSAT-Flex - during the week of May 18th and another during the week of June 14th. LSAC anticipates releasing scores from the May LSAT-Flex by June 5, and scores from the June LSAT-Flex by June 30. Assuming LSAC meets these score reporting deadlines, Southwestern will be able to consider scores from the May LSAT-Flex administration for admission into either the 2-year accelerated program (which begins June 15) or the 3- and 4-year programs (which begin August 12). Because scores from the June LSAT-Flex will be released after the start of the 2-year accelerated program, we cannot use June LSAT-Flex scores as consideration for that program. However, we will accept June LSAT-Flex scores for consideration of admission into the 3-year full-time program or 4-year part-time programs.
