Southwestern Presented With Michael F. Crowe Award by the Art Deco Society of California

Every year, the Art Deco Society of California presents Art Deco Preservation Awards to those who have helped preserve the buildings, art, and culture from the Art Deco era. At this year's Art Deco Society of California Preservation Ball, held in Oakland, California, Southwestern was presented with the Michael F. Crowe Award for the restoration and stewardship of the Bullocks Wilshire Building.

In 1994, Southwestern purchased the Bullocks Wilshire building and set out to convert it into a cutting-edge academic center, while retaining its historic character.  This 1929 Art Deco structure was transformed into the unique, multi-faceted facility that we know and love today. It is a landmark that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
