Part-time Circulation Associate

The Circulation Associate is responsible for assisting Law Library patrons at the circulation desk, which is the first and primary point of contact for most Law Library patrons. As a member of the Circulation Services team, the Circulation Associate perform clerical duties, such as answering phone calls, assists with the supervision of student workers, and provides customer service to Law Library patrons. This position requires a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, as the Circulation Associate may at times be required to open the Law Library or close the Law Library.

Key responsibilities:

  • Performs the daily operation of the Law Library circulation desk;
  • Opens and closes the Law Library as needed;
  • Performs functions related to the circulation of library materials such as checking materials in and out to patrons and shelving materials; 
  • Assists Law Library patrons with locating library materials;
  • Assists with the supervision and training of the Law Library’s student workers;
  • Updates and filing loose-leaf reserve materials; 
  • Processes alumni cards, bar studier card, and other guest related card forms.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; At least 1 year experience working at a circulation desk in a library or other customer service oriented position;  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with people from all different backgrounds.

Physical Demands

  • Must possess ability to stand, squat, stoop, stretch, lift, carry, shelve and retrieve books and materials (generally not exceeding 50 lbs.) from shelves and storage locations. Must be able to push a book truck weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Must possess the ability to read routine documents and a computer screen.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with the public both in person, in writing, and over the telephone.

Salary: $25.00/hour
