Director of Annual Giving

Southwestern Law School seeks a Director of Annual Giving to join the Institutional Advancement Department.  Building on the success of strong leadership and deep, long-term relationships with alumni and other supporters, the Director of Annual Giving is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive annual giving program for Southwestern Law School. This individual will lead efforts to increase annual giving participation and overall dollars raised from alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff, and other constituents, including corporate and foundation partners, to amplify and support Southwestern’s mission. The Director of Annual Giving reports to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

Job Summary:

The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for developing goals and metrics for the annual campaign and tracking and regularly reporting progress on these metrics to ensure Southwestern meets its annual fundraising goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual campaign plan designed to increase both total funding and number of donors
  • Plan and execute strategies to retain and upgrade existing core and community donors and identify and secure new donors
  • Ensure protocols are in place and followed for recording all activities related to the annual campaign and that data is entered accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Produce appeal-related materials, including reports, letters, online giving pages, social media posts, etc.
  • Coordinate with contract vendors on annual appeal-related activities, including direct mail, telemarketing, e-solicitations, marketing materials, and donor recognition
  • Execute all annual campaign-related mailings, including solicitation letters, pledge letters, and stewardship correspondence
  • Track financial progress and effectiveness of solicitation appeals
  • Identify and research current annual giving trends and best practices and work to incorporate them into the annual campaign
  • Help to inform data-driven campaign decisions by providing a suite of reports such as prospect pipeline, pledge and gift analysis, proposal tracking, gift tables, and campaign summaries
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Requirements and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred; individuals without a Bachelor’s degree should demonstrate other relevant education and have an additional two years of related experience
  • Demonstrated progressive responsibility with a minimum of two years’ related experience
  • Familiarity with the philanthropic industry and sources of philanthropy
  • Ability to creatively conceptualize and implement new projects and high-level strategy
  • Ability to set goals strategically and proven record of achieving these goals
  • Proven ability to work successfully in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and to effectively manage cross-organizational working relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop or Canva
  • Proficiency using the apps in Microsoft 360
  • Higher education experience preferred

Salary

Pay range is $82,000 – $92,000 per year. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Other Information

The successful candidate may be able to work remotely two days per week during the fall and spring semesters and three days per week during the summer term. Parking on campus is at no cost to employees.
