Call for Papers

Interested scholars are invited to submit an abstract of a full-length law review article, together with a curriculum vitae, to JIMEL@swlaw.edu no later than November 15, 2026.

The Journal of International Media & Entertainment Law at Southwestern Law School, in association with the Armenian Bar Association, invites scholars to submit abstracts of full-length law review articles for a symposium examining traditional and technology-assisted disinformation and propaganda in the armed conflicts of the South Caucasus, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia — including but not limited to Nagorno-Karabakh, Ukraine, and the frozen and recurring conflicts of the former Soviet space.

Scope. Submissions should take one or more conflicts within this region as their primary subject. Comparative and theoretical work drawing on other theaters is welcome where the regional conflicts remain the analytic center of the article.

Publication. Articles accepted for the symposium will be peer reviewed for publication in the Journal. 

Scholars offered publication are eligible for pre-approved air and hotel reimbursement.

Topics. Any topic related to the general charge of this Call for Papers may be proposed. Special consideration will be given to proposals addressing topics in the following areas:

  • Technology-assisted State speech apparatuses 
  • Use of AI and social media in armed conflict
  • The interrelation of truth, origin, and intent
  • Regulation of foreign agent information and disinformation
  • Modalities and disclosure norms of speech in armed conflict
  • The intersection of religion, history, and culture in misinformation/disinformation
  • Information laundering and foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) architecture as propaganda of war
