Piper Hinson

Professor Piper Hinson (she/her) is a law clerk for a federal magistrate judge at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Before joining the court, Professor Hinson practiced as an appellate fellow attorney at Horvitz & Levy LLP. 

Professor Hinson graduated magna cum laude from Southwestern Law School, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of The Southwestern Law Review and Academic Chair of the Moot Court Honors Program. Professor Hinson was a decorated Moot Court competitor. She was named Best Advocate at the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition Boston Regional, where her team won the regional championship and advanced to nationals. During law school, she also served as a teaching assistant, research assistant, Dean's Fellow, and externed for the Honorable Otis D. Wright II of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. In her final year, she participated in the Appellate Litigation Clinic, helping draft appellate briefs and arguing a case before the Ninth Circuit.

Prior to law school, Professor Hinson earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Industry from the University of Southern California and worked in the entertainment industry for nearly two decades.
