Mackenzie Gray

Professor Gray serves as an Adjunct Professor at Southwestern Law School, where she teaches Remedies. Her teaching focuses on helping students develop the analytical, writing, and practical skills necessary for success in law school, on the bar examination, and in legal practice. 

Prior to joining Southwestern, Professor Gray served as an Adjunct Professor at Chapman University, Dale E. Fowler School of Law, where she taught Advanced Selected Topics, a bar-focused course designed to strengthen students’ essay-writing, issue-spotting, and exam-taking skills. She also served as a bar preparation grader for Chapman University’s Summer bar preparation program, providing individualized feedback and assessment to graduating law students preparing for the California Bar Examination. 

Before entering academia, Professor Gray practiced criminal law as a prosecutor, handling a broad range of misdemeanor matters and gaining significant courtroom and trial experience. Her practice experience informs her teaching, emphasizing the application of legal doctrine to real-world advocacy and problem-solving. 

Professor Gray earned her Juris Doctor from Chapman University and is currently completing her Ph.D. in Education. Her doctoral research examines legal education pedagogy, instructional practices, and bar readiness within legal education. Her scholarly interests include student learning, assessment, academic success, and evidence-based approaches to legal instruction.
