Sex Offender Laws: Legal Challenges and Remedies CLE

- Speaker Janice Bellucci, Executive Director of the Alliance for Constitutional Sex Offense Laws (ACSOL), will be introduced by SW Prof. Emerita Catherine Carpenter '76.
- The State of California and local governments have passed a wide array of sex offender laws that significantly impact more than 100,000 people who are required to register as a sex offender. Those restrictions include, but are not limited to, employment limitations, residency restrictions, proximity restrictions as well as domestic and overseas travel.
There are four objectives for this CLE course: (1) introduce attorneys to state and local government sex offenders laws, (2) identify legal challenges faced by those required to register, (3) describe legal remedies, including removal from the registry, available to those required to register and (4) identify existing and project future trends for state and local government sex offender laws. - 1.0 hour of MCLE credit offered. Southwestern Law School is a State Bar of California approved MCLE provider.
