Southwestern Law Student Sofi Sargsyan Receives $40,000 AccessLex Scholarship

Southwestern Law School congratulates Sofi Sargsyan, a third-year evening student, on being named a 2026 MAX by AccessLex® Grand Prize Scholarship winner. The $40,000 scholarship will be applied toward tuition or student loan repayment, supporting Sofi as she continues preparing for a career in public service and local government.

The MAX by AccessLex scholarship program is part of AccessLex Institute’s free financial education program for law students. Students earn entries into scholarship drawings by completing MAX financial education activities throughout the academic year. Sofi was selected as one of three 3L winners nationwide and one of nine law students recognized in this year’s Grand Prize Scholarship Drawing. Southwestern was also named #1 among the 2026 MAX Madness Final Four winners.

“This scholarship is an incredible gift as I move toward the next stage of my legal career,” Sofi said. “I came to law school with a commitment to public service, access to justice, and community-centered problem solving. Support like this makes it possible to stay focused on that work and on the communities I hope to serve.”

Sofi has built her academic and professional path around law, policy, and public service. She holds a Master of Public Administration from UC Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy and a Bachelor of Arts in Peace and Conflict Studies from UC Berkeley, where her research focused on human rights, refugee integration, and access to justice.

At Southwestern, Sofi has continues to pursue work rooted in public service and community engagement. She also serves as a student editor for the Journal of International Media & Entertainment Law. She was recently named a 2026 Renne Public Law Group Fellow, a role that will allow her to expand her public agency experience and further develop her work in community-focused governance.
