Professor Begakis first "real" legal job was working as an entertainment law associate for Merino Yebri, LLP where he had served as a clerk during law school. At Merino Yebri, he worked on production and rights acquisition agreements and assisted on litigation matters. Shortly thereafter, Professor Begakis, struck out on his own; developing an independent book of entertainment/new media clientele and negotiating and drafting YouTube channel agreements, production services, and digital distribution agreements.
In the spring of 2016, the professor joined forces with two other young attorneys in co-founding AltView Law Group, a full-service law firm representing entertainment and corporate clients in all aspects of film, television, new media, music, technology, and business. He also developed the firm’s branding and marketing strategy, including creating cost-effective flat-fee packages and document suites to offer to clients for various legal matters. He leads the firm’s litigation department, including all discovery, motion practice, and trial work. The most rewarding part of Professor Begakis' practice is representing "talent" in negotiations related to network television, music production, and new media projects.
After guest lecturing in Southwestern's Fashion Law course, Professor Begakis was invited to join Southwestern's adjunct faculty and co-teach the summer (accelerated) iteration of the course with Professors Kane and Burke.
