Anastasia Sagorsky ’13

Professor Anastasia Sagorsky is a Deputy District Attorney at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. Since joining LADA in 2016, she has prosecuted a broad range of matters, including domestic violence, sex crimes, gang crimes, and homicide, from the charge evaluation stage through jury trial. She has participated in Project LEAD (a LADA program whereby prosecutors and other LADA staff teach a school-year-long program to a fifth-grade class about the criminal justice system) as a classroom instructor. She has also served as a facilitator for Teen Court (a program that offers juvenile offenders the opportunity to be tried and sentenced by their teenage peers, rather than facing criminal charges in juvenile court).

Prior to joining LADA, Professor Sagorsky served as a Deputy District Attorney for the Riverside District Attorney’s office from 2013 until 2016. There, she served as the grant-designated prosecutor for all drug-related Driving Under the Influence matters for Western Riverside County. She was named Employee of the Month in September 2014, after successfully prosecuting a difficult domestic violence matter, involving an absent victim and a defense Intimate Partner Violence expert, at jury trial.

Before graduating from Southwestern Law School in 2013, she clerked for the Riverside DA’s office, and in 2012, won the Closing Argument Competition held each summer for law clerks. She also clerked at the Animal Protection Unit of the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office, won Witkin and Cali awards for academic excellence, and served as the Chair of the Trial Advocacy Honors Program (now JEBS) for 2012 – 2013.

Prior to entering law school, Professor Sagorsky tutored students from fifth grade through twelfth grade in English, History, and test preparation, and taught students individually, in small groups, and in large assemblies. She also presented workshops on obtaining Financial Aid and achieving academic excellence in college.  She obtained her B.A. in Art History with a minor in French from U.C.L.A. in 2002, and graduated cum laude, and as a member of the Golden Key and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies.

Before beginning her law career, Professor Sagorsky had a career in the entertainment industry and worked as an actress on several primetime network television shows.
