12/17/21 Update: ACTION REQUIRED OVER WINTER BREAK: COVID Booster Shot Requirement

Body

Dear Students, Staff, and Faculty (full-time and adjunct):

Southwestern Law School is requiring that all students, staff, faculty, coaches, and volunteers who are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster shot do so and upload an updated vaccine card by January 7, 2022. The attached policy explains the requirement in detail. Please read it this week so that you can plan appropriately for the Spring 2022 semester. We realize this policy requires you to act quickly, but after studying the matter, we deem this action necessary to continue keeping our campus community safe.

Also remember that all members of the campus community who plan to access campus in Spring 2022 must test with Nobility Health on January 4 or 5 (or make other arrangements by tomorrow, December 17, by emailing covidmanager@swlaw.edu).

In addition, out of an abundance of caution, classes and operations will be remote the week after Spring Break so that all members of the community may test before returning to campus.

While this has been a challenging semester, I want to thank each and every one of you for working hard to make the semester a success. We were able to offer on-campus classes until our planned transition to remote classes after Thanksgiving. We had only one instance of on-campus spread, and that came just before Thanksgiving. The Southwestern community is extraordinary. I'm glad we were able to offer the ability for on-campus learning while providing the option for remote learning to those who needed it. But that feat truly took a village!

I wish you the very best over the winter break and look forward to seeing you, whether in person or over Zoom, in January.

All my best,
Darby Dickerson
