The Islamic Law Society at Southwestern ("ILS") was established to promote an academic interest in Islamic law. The organization will attempt to serve as a forum for active members, faculty, and the greater Southern California legal community to compare and contrast Islamic law with Anglo-American legal systems. ILS was not established as a forum for promoting religion or a religious perspective; instead, its sole purpose is to advance the academic inquiry of Islamic law as a religiously based legal system.
