The Immigration Law Students Association (ILSA) was founded to provide a means for Southwestern students interested in the practice or field of immigration law to:
- learn about current trends in immigration law and practice;
- hear from and meet immigration practitioners;
- network with Southwestern students interested in the topic; and
- support efforts by Southwestern to meet immigration needs in the local community.
Past events included presentations by a Southwestern Alum and Immigration Judge Gembacz, and a panel of local practitioners specializing in asylum work, criminal immigration detention, unaccompanied minors, and Asian-American immigrations matters. Future events will include speakers and a field trip to observe proceedings at the US Immigration Court in downtown Los Angeles.
