General Relief Advocacy Project (GRAP)

The General Relief Advocacy Project (GRAP) - created through the Public Counsel Law Center and its Homelessness Prevention Law Project - has leveraged the talents of more than 3,500 summer law associates and lawyers to assist more than 16,000 individuals who desperately needed emergency food, shelter and transportation.

What is GRAP?

Students advocate in various Department of Social Services (DPSS) offices to help people receive benefits to which they are entitled.

Why we need your help:

On any given day in Los Angeles County there are 50,000 - 80,000 homeless people. They need your help filling out forms, answering questions and making sure everyone gets the proper benefits (food stamps, etc.).

Why you should join:

It is the only club on campus where you can be a lawyer as a first year student! You learn valuable skills and experience that will help you in law school and beyond. Because of you, someone will have money for food to feed his or her family.

DPSS trips will be planned throughout the year and the dates will be posted. Your participation is greatly needed.
