First-year Orientation Program

The first step in your legal career.

An overview of the resources and programs designed to ease your transition into the law school is provided within these pages, as well as in the Orientation Guide that is sent to each entering student. This Guide includes information on Orientation, select academic policies, student services, student life, and other opportunities and programs. There is also a helpful checklist of items to take care of before and after arriving at Southwestern, the Orientation Schedule, and instructions for obtaining email and other computer services, health insurance and parking, among other details. A downloadable version of this guide may also be found below.

It is imperative that you read the Orientation Guide thoroughly before Orientation and bring it with you to campus.

Southwestern's mandatory Orientation for First-year Students will be held on Wednesday, August 10 (Evening Students ONLY); Thursday, August 11; and Friday, August 12, 2011 (Thursday and Friday are both for ALL students). A schedule and details can be found in the Guide and is linked below. Parking will be available free of charge for Orientation. The entrance to the parking lot is located on Wilshire Place at 7th Street. Click here for a map and directions.

Please contact the Student Affairs Office or the specific department listed in the Guide if you have any questions or concerns.
