Work Study Positions

A variety of work study positions both on and off campus are listed below. To participate, students must be eligible for work study funds. Eligibility status may be checked through the Financial Aid Office. For more information regarding the positions, contact the listed offices directly.

A/V Specialist

Duties: Students will be responsible for duties including but not limited to the following: setting up Audio/Visual equipment in classrooms for professors. Must be available to be on call to troubleshoot any issues with A/V set-up. Includes other tasks as assigned.

Fitness Center Assistant

Duties: Students will be responsible for duties including but not limited to the following: opening and closing the Fitness Center, monitoring and signing-in all visitors and users, reporting any incidents or injuries to Administrative Services, cleaning equipment, and ensuring all rules of Fitness Center are being followed.

Journal of Legal Education Cite Checker

Duties: Students will be responsible for duties including but not limited to the following: verifying the accuracy and completeness of legal citations and other footnoted material in manuscripts selected for publication in the quarterly journal. The position requires comprehensive knowledge of Bluebook Citation Form, extreme attention to detail, consistency and quick turnaround. Includes other tasks as assigned.

Law Clerk (Off Campus - all positions must be approved prior to working)

Duties: Students will be responsible for duties including but not limited to the duties that vary with each position. This may include legal research and writing, as needed, and  assisting with legal representation of clients (pre-trial and trial preparation; litigating all aspects of the case through disposition at the trial court level; promoting and protecting the best interest of the client at all times; maintaining client contact by telephone, appointments, or institutional visits; keeping client apprised of investigations, negotiations, and court rulings; appearing at regularly scheduled court dockets and all appearances concerning assigned caseload; drafting motions and pleadings).

Library Assistant

Duties: Students will be responsible for duties including but not limited to the following: assisting patrons by checking out reserve and non-reserve materials, checking-in and re-shelving books that have been returned, assisting with maintenance of photocopy machines, and other tasks as assigned.

Notetaker

Duties: Students will be responsible for duties including but not limited to the following: taking class notes for students with disabilities, distributing class notes via email and making copies of the notes (which are then handed in to the Disability Specialist in the Counseling Center).

Office Assistant

Duties: Students will be responsible for duties including but not limited to the following: filing, copying, collating, answering phones, mailings, some lifting (moving boxes to other offices), running errands around campus, giving campus tours to prospective students (Admissions), calling prospective donors during fundraising phone-a-thon (Institutional Advancement), and other tasks as assigned.

Research Assistant

Duties: Students will be responsible for duties including but not limited to the following: legal research and writing. This requires excellent writing and research skills. Students provide legal and Internet research and analysis for cases or legal issues. May assist with policy, book, manual revision and review. Cases and subject matter will vary depending on Professor. Other tasks as assigned.

Teaching Assistant

Duties: Students will be responsible for duties including but not limited to the following: assisting with class review and preparation, which may include conducting review sessions, providing assistance to students in class and legal research and writing. This requires excellent communication, writing and research skills. Students may provide legal and Internet research and analysis for cases or legal issues. May assist with policy, book, manual revision and review. Cases and subject matter will vary depending on Professor. Includes other tasks as assigned.

Tutor at Hoover Elementary School/National Council of Jewish Women

Duties: Students will be responsible for duties including but not limited to the following: acting as tutors for elementary students and assisting in the classroom at Hoover Elementary School and/or National Council of Jewish Women. Includes other tasks as assigned. This is a Community Service Program.
