Green Living
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is an internationally recognized mark of excellence that provides building owners and architects with "a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions." Southwestern's student housing complex features a variety of features to meet LEED Gold or higher rating standards:

- Energy rated windows
- High efficiency irrigation system
- Recycling facilities
- Water conservation appliances and fixtures
- Environmental sustainability-promoting features
- Non-smoking facility
- Preferred parking for hybrid/electric cars with designated electric plug-in stations
- Ridesharing program promoting use of mass transit, walking and biking
- Secured bicycle storage room
