New Director of Career Services Appointed
Mr. Randy Myricks has been appointed as the Director of Career Services at Southwestern, commencing August 13. An attorney and legal recruiting expert, he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the legal job market to the position.
Prior to joining Southwestern, Mr. Myricks practiced in the area of real estate law with the firms of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton; Allen, Matkins, Leck, Gamble & Malory; and Stroock & Stroock. He served as the Attorney Recruiter at Swan Legal Search and Recruiting Manager at Robert Half Legal, and was Director of Legal Services at Direct Hire Associates. Most recently, he was the Director of Attorney Recruiting at Prestige Legal Search, specializing in the placement of attorneys at all levels, with a focus on lateral associates, partners and in-house counsel throughout the Los Angeles area.
Mr. Myricks has served as a panelist on legal recruiting issues for the Association for Corporate Counsel, NALP/The Association for Legal Career Professionals, the Young Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, a number of law schools and other organizations. He has been a Guest Lecturer at the UCLA Law School Extension Program and is currently authoring a book on recruiting.
Senior Associate Dean Gary Greener said, "Randy Myricks will be a tremendous addition to our Career Services team. Through his combination of experience as a practicing attorney for eight years and as a legal recruiter for seven years, he is highly qualified to provide our students with well-rounded advice, and to reach out to a wide network of legal employers to connect them with our students and graduates." Dean Greener, who has led Southwestern's Career Services Office since 2000, was recently promoted to Senior Associate Dean for Career, Admissions and Financial Aid Services.
Mr. Myricks earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, cum laude, in finance and administrative management from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He completed his J.D. degree at the University of Minnesota Law School and is a member of the State Bar of California.
In his position as Director of Career Services, Mr. Myricks will be responsible for developing and implementing effective employer outreach efforts to build and maintain relationships that will result in student and graduate employment opportunities. He will supervise various on-campus interview programs and recruitment events, oversee the office's comprehensive program of career panels and workshops for students, provide career counseling to students and alumni, and participate in local and national organizations to help promote Southwestern's students and graduates to potential employers in the legal, business and government communities.
