Metropolitan News-Enterprise Names Dean Bryant Garth "Person of the Year"
The Metropolitan News-Enterprise has selected Southwestern's Dean Bryant Garth as a 2010 "Person of the Year." He will be recognized along with two other honorees at the annual Person of the Year Dinner on January 21 at the Jonathan Club.
Announcing Dean Garth as one of this year's award recipients, MetNews co-publisher Jo-Ann W. Grace said, "As an experienced law professor and author or co-author of more than 16 books, as well as 75 articles, and as co-editor of the Association of American Law Schools' Journal of Legal Education, Garth clearly qualifies as a legal scholar. That Southwestern would engage the services of such a person as its dean is consistent with its rapidly developing stature as a prestigious legal institution."
Robert H. Philibosian '67, former Los Angeles District Attorney and a Southwestern alumnus and Board Trustee, will emcee the black tie event, which will also present awards to plaintiffs' attorney Jack Denove and attorney/conductor Gary S. Greene.
Presenters will include Los Angeles Superior Court Presiding Judge Lee Edmon, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich, Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley, Los Angeles Sheriff Lee Baca, Los Angeles City Attorney Carmen Trutanich, State Bar Governor Pat Kelly, and Los Angeles County Bar Association President Alan Steinbrecher. Information about the event can be found online.
