Law Students Gather to Celebrate and Discuss Presidential Inauguration

To mark the historic occasion of President Barack Obama's inauguration, the Southwestern community will gather to watch the proceedings and receive live updates from fellow students, who will be communicating via Twitter and Flickr directly from Washington DC during the day.

President Barack Obama's inauguration will be played live (8:30 a.m.) and then later played back (12:30 p.m.) for all students and faculty to watch. At the later presentation, constitutional scholar Professor Gowri Ramachandran and BLSA members will speak. Southwestern students attending the inauguration in DC will be sending live text feedback through Twitter; instant messaging through a live group chat; and live streaming photos through Flickr.

The event is sponsored by Southwestern's Student Affairs and Diversity Affairs Offices, with the Student Bar Association (SBA), Black Law Students Association (BLSA), and The Commentator, Southwestern's Student-run Newsmagazine.

Media seeking to cover the event or interview students and faculty in attendance should contact Southwestern's Public Affairs Office at (213) 738-6731.
