Leading Media and Entertainment Industry Attorneys and Executives Discuss "Fast Times in Hollywood" at Southwestern
Reality television has become a forum for discovering new talent. Once relegated to the tabloids, celebrity media now infiltrates the Internet, mainstream publications and TV news. Product placement, sponsorship and in-text advertising now blur the line between creative and editorial substance verses promotional content, complicating deal making and legal issues. On Thursday, January 15, these issues will be the subject of "Fast Times in Hollywood: Keeping Up with Cutting Edge Issues in Entertainment and Media Law." The event, offering four hours of CLE credit, will take place from 2:15 to 7:00 p.m. on the Southwestern campus.
The sixth annual conference presented by both Southwestern's Biederman Institute and the Media Law Resource Center (MLRC) will feature prominent entertainment attorneys and industry executives who will explore the uncertain and quickly evolving legal landscape connected with these issues. The three panels include "Is Reality TV the New Schwab's Drugstore?" "Celebrity Mania," and "What Happens When Protected Speech Meets Embedded Promotions? Product Integration, Sponsorship, and Ad-Linking."
The distinguished list of presenters includes: David G. Stanley, Greenberg, Glusker, Fields, Claman & Machtinger; John Ferriter, Executive Vice President and Worldwide Head of Non-Scripted Television, William Morris Agency; David C. Shall, Executive Vice President, Business Operations/General Counsel, Fremantle Media North America, Inc.; Scott Whitehead, Colden McKuin & Frankel; Bradley H. Ellis, Sidley Austin; Timothy L.
