Journal of International Law Blue Book Award Winners Announced; Senior Reference Librarian David McFadden Also Honored
On September 16, the Southwestern Journal of International Law presented Blue Book Awards to Law Journal members whose efforts stood out in the editing and production of journal articles for the first production assignment this year. Students selected for the awards included Neghin Khanverdi, Kenneth Korosi, Christina Marquezm and Diana Shaginian. Each winner was complemented for their diligent work by a Law Journal editor. The journal's Editor-in-Chief, Alisa Azizyan, indicated that she and the board were very impressed by the quality of the production assignments, and particularly since only one Blue Book Award may be designated for each article, it was difficult to make the selection.
During the reception, the journal board also presented a special Blue Book Award and commemorative globe to Senior Reference Librarian David McFadden, who works closely with the members of the Law Journal. Stephanie Peatman, Managing Editor, said, "We are honoring David McFadden because he is simply amazing. Over the years, Professor McFadden has given so much support and guidance to not only the Journal, but to all faculty, students and staff at Southwestern. His extensive knowledge and experience coupled with his enormous heart is the reason why he is so treasured."
"I was really surprised by the award." McFadden said. "It was completely unexpected. I have enjoyed working with the Law Journal students for nearly 20 years. The questions, sources and citations are particularly challenging because they are often from foreign and international sources and not in English."
