Southwestern Community Mourns the Loss of Famed Showbiz Attorney Ed Hookstratten '57
Legendary sports and entertainment attorney Ed Hookstratten '57, a 30-year member of the Southwestern Board of Trustees, passed away on January 22. His storied career included representing some of the most prominent celebrities, sports figures and sports teams in the world.

A loyal and generous supporter of the law school since graduating in 1957, Mr. Hookstratten was instrumental in raising funds for the Tom Bradley Scholarship Endowment Fund and served on the Bradley Dinner Committee for many years during the early 1980's. In 1984, he was honored at the Bradley event as the "Distinguished Citizen" award recipient and received an honorary degree from Southwestern, the same year that his son, Jon, earned his J.D. from the law school. Mr. Hookstratten was also elected to the Board of Trustees in 1984 and took trustee emeritus status in 2005. He established the Hewitt/Hookstratten Scholarship Endowment Fund in 1989 in memory of his parents to provide financial assistance to evening students.
