International Dispute Resolution

633AP | 2.0 credits

Description

This course looks at the different tribunals of formal international justice and explores issues and tensions between formal models of adjudication and less formal and more "alternative" approaches to justice and law enforcement, as well as peace, such as the many Truth and Reconciliation Commissions, as part of "restorative" or transitional justice. This course will be focusing on both private and public law and justice issues and the process pluralism that currently characterizes international dispute resolution (diplomatic negotiation, arbitration, etc.) as well as class discussion, readings and lectures.
