Marie A. La Molinara
Working while completing her undergraduate education proved to be an invaluable experience for Marie La Molinara, as it led her to a career goal she had not considered previously. She took a position as a receptionist for a low-cost legal assistance company where she soon became fascinated with the law. During the four years she was employed there, she worked her way up to become the firm's senior paralegal. Inspired by this hands-on legal experience and gaining "a deep appreciation of the importance of providing financially less fortunate people with access to qualified legal assistance," Marie was determined to pursue a law degree. She went on to use the skills she had developed, both in and out of the law classroom, and to excel as a member of Southwestern's nationally recognized Moot Court Honors Program. In one of the most challenging of the interscholastic competitions, Marie helped lead her team to a First Place Team title, as well as awards for brief and oralist. As she nears the completion of her law studies, Marie is now confident that she will be able to "responsibly contribute to the legal system and the community" in her new profession.
