Born and raised in Hong Kong, Ivy Wai Man Mi says she "was fortunate to receive an education in a school with a Western influence." As a result, although she cherished her rich Chinese culture and traditions, she decided to further her education in the United States. Upon graduation, she gained experience through an array of jobs, which in turn exposed her to the law. She spent a few years back in Hong Kong as a senior legal secretary to one of the prominent global partners in the law firm of Baker & McKenzie, and found the dynamic and varied legal environment intellectually stimulating.
"SCALE presents a unique approach to studying the law in an exciting, fast-paced and challenging program."
Ivy moved back to Los Angeles where she obtained a position with the managing partner of a large Workers' Compensation defense firm that has offices throughout California. There, she worked closely with many Southwestern graduates who provided a catalyst for her interest in law school and specifically Southwestern. Ivy now studies the law conceptually in the two-year SCALE program, which seems to be a perfect match for this intense and enthusiastic student. She finds the program, like law, to be "very fast-paced and challenging," and at the same time finds "we've built this spirit of camaraderie among us."
